The film profiles Mauro Selvetti, an elderly Italian olive farmer who is as ripe as the produce he cultivates. We see the farmer crouched down, scooping up cherries and grapes from a farm he very clearly takes pride in. Selvetti looks at life through his work as a farmer and wonders how he could do anything else. We learn Selvetti’s view of the world, as we watch him at work picking potatoes from the ground or climbing trees to shake out masses of olives in the Italian countryside. Selvetti is part of the landscape he works and he is fascinating to watch.
